New Dementia Friendly Community in Lancing and Adur
On Friday 31st January Home Instead in Worthing and Steyning attended the inaugural meeting to launch a new Dementia Friendly Community in Lancing, West Sussex and around the Adur area. Worthing has a thriving Dementia Friendly Community and the hope is for the same to happen to the East.
Home Instead is already at the forefront of supporting people with a Dementia in the Adur area running a twice monthly Memory Café every first Tuesday of the month and every 3rd Thursday of the month. Additionally, Home Instead in Worthing provide the very best Home Care in Lancing and Sompting in Adur as well as in Worthing and Steyning. As well as traditional personal care Home Instead support people around the house and with trips out and companionship. Anything from a cup of tea and friendly face, through to help with the crossword or lunch out at the local carvery!
The event was very well attended with several organisations having stands telling the public about the services they provide for people with Dementia. As well as Home Instead the Alzheimer’s Society, West Sussex Carers Support and Dementia Friendly Worthing were on hand to answer questions. Over 100 people turned up to hear people from West Sussex County Council, The Alzheimer’s Society and people with Dementia (or cared for someone with Dementia) talk about they benefit from an active Dementia Friendly Community.
As the leading Care Agency in Worthing, Steyning and Lancing Home Instead are very excited to be part of this new community; Supporting not just its own clients and not just those with Dementia, but all older people in the community.
