The Importance of Dementia Action Week

As it's Dementia Action Week it's been a busy event for our team so far, with lots more to come.

Home Instead Community Engagement Officer Pauline at a Dementia Together Wirral event.
This week is Dementia Action Week and as leading dementia care experts, Home Instead’s team have been proactively involved in numerous events to help raise awareness and provide vital information to people needing to learn about the condition. They have worked together with our colleagues from both Home Instead Wirral and Home Instead Chester, at events across the pan Mersey area.
According to information from various sources, including the Wirral Dementia Strategy and Wirral Intelligence Service, there are over 3,000 people aged 65 and over who have a recorded diagnosis of dementia in Wirral. However, it is likely that more people living with dementia in Wirral have not yet received a formal diagnosis, making Dementia Action Week vitally important in raising awareness of the signs of the condition and in helping support people seeking information and guidance.
As part of our commitment to Dementia Action Week, our fabulous community engagement officers Ange and Pauline were supporting Dementia Together Wirral’s event at the Lever Club in Port Sunlight today. Dementia Together Wirral provides a social community for people affected by memory issues or dementia, with or without a diagnosis, providing an important service to the Wirral community.
