Finding Connection in the Heart of the Wirral

West Kirby wellbeing walk April 2026.

There is something uniquely restorative about a stroll along the Marine Promenade at New Brighton, Hoylake or West Kirby, or catching the views over the Dee Estuary. However, as the years pass, the beauty of our surroundings can sometimes feel a little more distant if we don’t have someone to share them with. At Home Instead Wirral, we believe that staying social isn’t just a “nice to have”, it is a cornerstone of healthy ageing.

Why Socialising Matters

Loneliness can have a significant impact on physical health, often being compared to the risks of smoking or sedentary lifestyles. Conversely, regular interaction can:

  • Boost Cognitive Function: Engaging in conversation keeps the mind sharp and agile.
  • Improve Mood: Sharing a laugh or a story lowers cortisol levels and promotes emotional resilience.
  • Enhance Physical Vitality: Being social often involves getting out and moving.

Get Involved Locally

We are proud to support various community initiatives across the peninsula. From our support of the vibrant singing cafes in Birkenhead, Wallasey, West Kirby and Bebington – perfect for a cuppa and some great company, to supporting Active Wirral’s wellbeing walks that take in the fresh Wirral air, there are plenty of opportunities to connect. Whether you’re a lifelong resident of West Kirby or new to Bebington, or elsewhere in Wirral or Neston, a warm welcome always awaits.

Don’t forget the Wirral Walking Festival takes place throughout the month of May, so please drop into Home Instead’s office at 32 Grange Road, West Kirby (opposite West Kirby railway station) or read more on the Visit Wirral website.

To find out more about the other scheduled community events we support on a regular basis contact our Community Engagement Team, Helen on  07341 007663 or Pauline on 07818 300657.
