We're sharing our award-winning home care training to reach more people in the community who give care in any capacity.
At Home Instead, we believe that everyone should have the confidence and understanding to interact with those who have different needs. That’s why we’re sharing our award-winning home care training to reach more people in the community who give care in any capacity.
Our training covers topics like moving and handling, basic life support, specialist condition care (dementia, Parkinson’s, stroke, cancer and sight and hearing difficulties) along with the End-of-Life Gold Standard Framework which is hugely important for us as we near the end of our days to what living out the end of their days and dying in a way they want is understood and eventuates. We’re also open to topic requests that would support the wider community in making life better for those who give or receive care.
To kick off our new monthly connect community training and talks, We would like to invite you to an informative and interactive introduction to Dementia for this year’s Dementia Action Week. Anitra, the organiser, is particularly passionate about Dementia due to her personal experience of growing up with a Nana who had Alzheimer’s Disease… Anitra’s family was almost torn apart due to the lack of awareness and understanding of this disease. Anitra strives to spread awareness about Dementia and increase the understanding for carers, family, and loved ones of those affected by the disease.
She also aims to equip retail and service staff, who frequently encounter people living with dementia, with practical tips and tricks to improve communication and create a more relaxed environment.
Anitra is a qualified “Train the Trainer” in Home Instead’s City & Guilds Dementia Training, an Alzheimer’s Champion in Dementia Care as well as a Dementia Friend. Register for this event with Anitra by emailing [email protected], as spaces are limited.
These interactivetraining talks are valuable for family and friends who care for those living with dementia, as well as other groups who may encounter people with different needs, retailers like garden centres, farm shops, coffee shops, supermarkets, community hubs and projects, hairdressers, and doctors’ surgeries. All our training talks are free to attend with complimentary refreshments.
