New Visitor Charter at Kingston Hospital makes visiting hours better for everyone....

Better visiting times for family and friends

No longer are local people restricted to visiting their family and friends in the afternoon and evening with the new Visitor Charter at Kingston Hospital. General visiting times for wards and departments are Mornings 9am –12pm and afternoons 2pm – 8pm except Paediatrics, ICU and Maternity.

The hospitals priority is providing quality care for the patients, but they recognise the important role that visitors can play in their wellbeing and want to be as flexible as possible to ensure they can spend time with their loved ones. The hospital is also actively encouraging visitors and carers to get involved in routine activities when appropriate and helpful to the patient.

Clare Jefferies, a member of the Patient Assembly at the hospital,  sees this as a huge step forward, especially for patients with Dementia. Clare said 'We have been providing support to clients in hospital for some time. It will now be easier to be there at the important times of the day to help with washing, dressing and pure companionship! It's the little things that make a hospital stay less stressful.'
