The impressive Hampton Court Palace

Our ‘date in the diary’ outing today was a fabulous trip Hampton Court’s Sensory Palace experience.  Home Instead was invited to the Christening of Henry VIII’s son Edward VI, with a sumptuous feast in the Great Hall, followed by a procession to the Chapel for the ceremony.

Sensory Palaces combines historical storytelling with a multi-sensory approach for people living with early stage dementia and their carers. It aims to increase participants’ sense of wellbeing, belonging and confidence, supporting them to explore the stories of some of the greatest palaces ever built in an interactive and immersive way. There are monthly activities at Hampton Court Palace, which put stimulating the senses at their heart. Emphasis is placed on one particular sense during the workshop, which helps participants make connections to the palace environment and stories of the people who’ve lived there.

Home Instead is looking forward to attending monthly sensory sessions at Hampton Court.
