30 jobs to be created by new at-home care business

Local lady, Clare Jefferies has a good head for business and expects her new at-home care service for the elderly to create at least 30 jobs in its first year.  However, for Clare, starting this new venture is a decision driven equally by her heart as by her head.

Six years ago, Clare lost both parents following long battles with illness and at the time she felt that she was unable to find the quality care and service that she wanted for them.   A fortuitous chat with an old friend, introduced her to a new company, Home Instead Senior Care, which she immediately identified with and wanted to find out more Clare explains:

“Paul, a good friend of ours, runs the Epsom office of Home Instead Senior Care.  He explained what he was up to and how at Home Instead, they do things differently to other care providers.   The more he told me about how matching the right caregiver to the client to provide not only the much needed home help but more importantly a trusted companion coming into someone’s home – tugged on my heart strings each time we met.  I realised I wanted to get involved.

Clare has got involved and opened her own branch of Home Instead Senior Care.  She has taken very positive action to ensure that the elderly of Wimbledon & Kingston and surrounding areas are better provided for in the future.  Mum of two and Wimbledon resident for the past 23 years, Clare decided to leave her estate agency career behind her, determined to use her business experience and excellent local knowledge and network to shape a high quality service that people so badly need.

Her new office at Adams House in New Malden is part of national award-winning home care company Home Instead Senior Care which provides a range of care services from simple tasks such as shopping to more complex requirements such as post-discharge care.

Clare continues:

"There are many differences to the way in which Home Instead operate, and for me matching the Caregiver to the client is one of the many things that sets us apart - we look for common areas of interest or life experience so that there is an immediate connection with our clients. It’s about making a difference to someone’s life. Also all our care visits are of a minimum duration of 1 hour ensuring our clients receive the best quality care whilst also providing our Caregivers with high levels of job satisfaction.”

Clare has been joined by local Care Manager – Julie Lee, who has many years of experience in both the public and the private sector. They are keen to recruit local people who are compassionate and reliable and who are interested in working with elderly people. Candidates don’t need to have experience in the care sector as they will receive excellent training, but they may well have experience looking after a relative or friend.

Home Instead are rapidly building a reputation as one of the UK’s leading care companies. Their service is tailored to the needs of individual clients and ranges from companionship, meal preparation, light housekeeping, post-discharge care, personal care, medication reminders, shopping and errands. The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
