Many people don’t realise there’s a difference between a caregiver and a companion, but there is. A caregiver may support with personal or health-related tasks, while a companion focuses on emotional well-being and social connection. At Home Instead Bromley, we combine the best of both. A caring companion might encourage your loved one to stay active, pop out for coffee or shopping at The Glades, or simply offer families a well-earned rest with total peace of mind. No matter what companionship looks like, we take time to match each client with a Care Professional who shares their interests and personality. And as needs evolve, your loved one can continue building that trusted relationship with someone they know and trust.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

Providing companionship may seem like something families should manage themselves, but when life gets busy, having a Care Professional visit, even just a few hours a week, can make a real difference. One client’s son reached out to us when his hectic schedule meant he was struggling to find time to take his mum on her usual walk around High Elms Park. With the support of her matched Care Professional, she not only regained her confidence but also discovered new routines. The pair now attend the Singing for Fun group at Halton Village Hall every month, something she always looks forward to. Whether it’s a walk, a chat, or a shared activity, our companionship care is about helping clients lead fulfilling lives at home.

Our team are not only City and Guild trained, they’re passionate about making a difference to the lives of older adults in Bromley. In 2024, we were honoured to be named Home Care Team of the Year at the Great British Care Awards London Region, recognising the heartfelt commitment we bring to every visit. But we go beyond the day-to-day. We actively champion local initiatives supporting the emotional and social well-being of our community. Our owner, Karina Brown, is a trustee of Age UK Bromley and Greenwich, and a member of our team, Gill Pratt, leads our Love to Move sessions, bringing movement, music, and connection to those who need it most. It’s this dedication that brings a personal touch to our companionship care.
We believe companionship care should open doors to new friendships. As well as providing one-to-one support at home, we help our clients rediscover the joy of social interaction out in the community. For example, the Churchill Theatre on Bromley High Street runs Slo Mo dance sessions for the over 60s, combining light exercise with their favourite songs. We also regularly take clients to and from the Saxon Day Centre, where they can enjoy a hot meal, take part in activities, and get to know others in the area. Whether it’s trying out a new hobby or finding ways to make new friends, we’re here to ensure your loved ones never feel alone.
