Join us at the Rose & Rest Retreat Memory Café

Some of the most beautiful moments happen when people simply come together and share their stories – connection has this incredible way of bringing out the best in all of us.

At our July Rose & Rest Retreat, we were fortunate to welcome Gail, a Dementia Care Champion from Bushey House Beaumont; Dr. Suhail Hussain, our partnered GP; and Louise from Be Beautiful by Louise who understands exactly how to make someone feel pampered and valued, especially when dementia is part of their world.

Professional expertise in the room was fantastic but it was also heart-warming to watch people relax into conversation, seeing hands being gently massaged, and witnessing our attendees creating something beautiful during our arts and crafts time. These moments remind us why gathering together matters so much.

Creating Space, Where Everyone Belongs

This is exactly why we’re passionate about our Rose & Rest Retreat at Home Instead Watford. We believe that dementia doesn’t diminish a person’s need for friendship, laughter, creative expression, and meaningful conversation. In fact, these connections become even more precious.

Our monthly retreat is the place, where:

  • People with dementia can engage in stimulating activities designed specifically with their needs in mind
  • Family members can connect with others who truly understand their journey
  • Carers and care professionals can take a moment to breathe while knowing their loved one is in expert, caring hands
  • Everyone can simply enjoy being part of a welcoming community

Our next event

Join us on Tuesday, August 19th from 2:00-4:00 PM at our convenient location in the Asda North Watford Superstore. While we’re still finalising the special guests and activities for this month’s event, we promise the same warm, inclusive atmosphere that made the July event special. We will then continue to run every third Tuesday of the month at this time.

Breaking Down the Barriers

We know that attending a new event can feel daunting, especially when dementia is part of your story. That’s why we’ve made participation as simple as possible:

  • No booking required – just turn up when you can

  • Accessible location with easy parking

  • Professional support from our trained team throughout the event

  • Flexible participation – stay for the full two hours or pop in when it suits you

  • Welcoming environment where there’s no pressure to be anyone other than yourself

Your Community is Waiting

Dementia affects 1 in 11 people over 65 in the UK (NHS data), which means it touches countless families in Watford and surrounding areas. You’re not alone in this journey, even when it feels that way.

The Rose & Rest Retreat exists because we believe every person deserves to feel valued, connected, and supported – regardless of their cognitive abilities or caring responsibilities. We’ve created something special here, but it’s only complete when you’re part of it.
