Tackling "missing persons with dementia" in Wiltshire

The Herbert Protocol is a nationwide scheme to help locate missing vulnerable persons.

Families in Wiltshire who have a member living with dementia are asked to register there details with the police and the local authority. The Herbert Protocol is simply a form that is completed and sent to the local police so that they can respond quickly when the person is reported missing. This is a great initiative in partnership with the Wiltshire Police Services and Wiltshire Council designed to alleviate stress for families when a vulnerable person goes missing.
