Blooming Connections: Sunflower Cafe and Rose Cafe Sessions

As the vibrant colours of spring fade away and the warmth of summer takes over, the Sunflower Cafe and Rose Cafe opens its doors. Welcoming everyone for engaging sessions filled with creativity, relaxation, and connection.

Sunflower Cafe: Nurturing Growth and Sensory Exploration

Led by Amy from Frog Life, the Sunflower Cafe session proved to be a true delight!

Learning about the enchanting transition from spring to summer really intrigued everyone.

Everyone got really into decorating pots, learning the art of potting, and planting their own sunflower plants to take home and nurture.

This will allow them to witness the growth and evolution of these majestic flowers, providing a wonderful opportunity for reflection and care.

Moreover, the session offered a super fun indoor gardening experience! It got people to engage their senses fully. They observed and explored the intricacies of flowers; feeling the texture of the soil, and delighting in the fragrant aromas that permeated the air.

Did you know that sensory engagement has a profound effect on our wellbeing, fostering a deeper connection with nature and promoting relaxation?

Rose Cafe: Cultural Conversations and Artistic Expression

At the Rose Cafe, led by Tayo, Ebony Life took centre stage, offering a unique perspective on Afro-Caribbean topics.

Everyone was treated to Windrush Bingo. It is an interactive game exploring different aspects of the Windrush era!

The Windrush Bingo turned out to be a tremendous hit, creating an atmosphere of joy and camaraderie. It not only stimulated the mind but also provided a platform for meaningful conversations and cultural exchange.

The session also provided an opportunity for nostalgia, with puzzles that took them back to the 1960s, allowing them to reminisce about that era.

The stories and chatter flowed effortlessly as the tea and coffee were distributed. It created such a delightful ambience of lively conversation, connection, and community.

Art Therapy at the Wallace Collection: Nurturing Creativity and Mindfulness

Both cafes had the pleasure of welcoming Lucy from the Wallace Collection for an art therapy session.

The attendees were introduced to the gallery’s rich history and the captivating artwork it houses. Before engaging in a drawing exercise, everyone practised mindful breathing, allowing them to relax and embrace the present moment fully.

With a newfound calmness, we all embarked on a drawing session, capturing the essence of a selected piece of artwork.

Witnessing the transformation and witnessing people gain confidence in their artistic abilities was truly remarkable!

The session not only nurtured creativity but also encouraged self-expression. Helping individuals explore their inner selves and find solace in the therapeutic power of art.
