• Great spots for cake around Saltash and Torpoint

As they grow older, nothing becomes more essential to your elderly loved ones than companionship and this can often be over a nice cup of tea and a slice of cake. Conversation, sharing memories and creating new ones together ensures health, happiness and soundness of mind more than anything else that you can provide. So as you enter into a post-lockdown world, make sure you bring your elderly relatives out with you – and treat them to a cupppa and some cake while you’re at it. Here are some recommendations for place in and around Saltash and Torpoint.

There are so many lovely places to eat and drink around Saltash and Torpoint.  If you would like a town-based option do head to Heart's Kitchen on Fore Street in Torpoint for good food throughout the day, with the cakes being especially good.  Monday to Wednesday they do an OAP special for smaller appetites, although located overlooking the sea may make you even hungrier!

At the entrance to Anthony Woodland Garden is the gorgeous Broomhill Cottage Vintage Tea Rooms and worth making a trip for the cakes alone! Additionally, the garden is one of the most beautiful and least known about in Cornwall suitable for all ages to enjoy!

Why not head down to the beautiful seaside villages of Cawsand and Kingsand. The Old Bakery Cawsand in Cawsand is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday but really worth a visit to try the Cinnamon snails!!

The area is full of quirky places to stop for a bite and The Canteen at Maker Heights at Millbrook is no exception. Run by ex-River Cottage chef Nick Platt and housed in an old barracks with long corrugated iron buildings, this setting gives chance to hark back to National Service with amazing cakes – make sure you go hungry!

Need somewhere where you can have cake and your four-legged friend is catered for as well then head to the Salty Dog Cafe near Millbrook where they serve Scoops ice cream, in various flavours, for your dog!
