Enjoy a Scenic Picnic with an Older Companion in Tavistock

Living in picturesque Tavistock, on the banks of the river Tavy, we are surrounded by the natural beauty and tranquillity that Devon has to offer. It’s no wonder that many of our clients have chosen this picturesque town as their place of retirement. Without travelling outside of the town you can also enjoy several of the green spaces on offer, for an easy outing with an older loved one.

As a relationship-focused home care service, we find joy in stepping out with our clients, sharing memorable experiences, and capturing photos that we can share with their families.

So, let’s guide you through some of our favourite spots in Tavistock for an outdoor outing with a picnic, sandwich, or simply a flask of tea.

Tavistock Sensory Garden

This garden is a tranquil oasis in the heart of Tavistock. The space is a “Garden for Life” and is thoughtfully designed with vibrant wildflowers and well-kept sensory beds, offering a calming environment for a peaceful moment of reflection. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely afternoon enjoying nature and you can even have a game of Pétanque!

With a bandstand, benches, and picnic tables as well as the convenience of on-site facilities like a cafe, toilets, and parking, all make The Meadows a perfect choice for an outdoor adventure.

The Garden House

The Garden House is a haven for plant lovers, with a wide variety of plants across different themed areas. The amenities, such as picnic tables and public toilets, make this garden a suitable place for a day out or a picnic. The site is also wheelchair accessible, ensuring that everyone can enjoy these beautifully maintained gardens. The on-site nursery and tearoom offer an added bonus, a treat for gardeners, and a selection of delicious treats.
