Be a Santa!

Can you help us bring comfort and cheer to older and vulnerable people in the community, who otherwise may not receive a gift, and maybe suffering from social isolation?

Be a Santa’, it is a gift-giving scheme in which you can positively impact the lives of older people in the community. We have been involved in the ‘Be a Santa’ gift giving campaign for the last couple

of years. It has been a joy to work with some amazing community partners, bringing comfort and cheer to older and vulnerable people in the community, who otherwise may not receive a gift.

Our ‘Be a Santa’ campaign collection boxes will be around Taunton and Wellington in local businesses including outside the office Galmington. Keep an eye on our Facebook page to spot our collection hampers!

Last year we donated gifts to one of the wards in Musgrove Park Hospital last year. Delivering those presents was one of the most humbling and uplifting parts of the campaign for Hannah, Community Engagement Lead and our Recruitment and Training Co-ordinator, Louisa. So many of those patients were alone with no one to visit them or go home to. The staff were incredibly grateful for our support. We have decided that we will focus on expanding our donations to the older people’s wards at Musgrove which they have said they will gratefully accept.

We are also going to donate to Wellsprings Community Church, on Christmas day, they provide Christmas dinner for those that struggle with homelessness, financial restrictions, and being alone. To provide a safe, warm and happy environment for a day that everyone should be able to celebrate together.

Gift’s do not need to be elaborate! We recommend these gifts are up to the value of £5 e.g. hats, gloves, scarves, slippers, slipper socks, toiletries, calendars, diaries, hand warmers, food gifts (with long dates) such as jam/chutney gift sets, chocolates, biscuits etc.

By reaching out to our local communities, we can help older people who might not otherwise receive a gift at Christmas time. In our efforts, we hope we can make a small difference, help to combat loneliness and offer our support to individuals, organisations and charities who all share a common goal to with all the team at Home Instead.
