Dementia Action Week 2026: Raising Awareness, Sharing Smiles, and Making a Difference.

Spreading Awareness at Co-op, Boley Park
Our Community Engagement Officer, Janis, spent time at Co-op Boley Park, chatting with members of the local community and sharing valuable information about dementia.
Visitors stopped by our information stand to learn more about dementia, discover available support services, and pick up resources to read at home. It was a wonderful opportunity to start conversations, answer questions, and raise awareness within
Adding an extra touch of excitement, Insomnia Café kindly donated an Afternoon Tea experience as a raffle prize. The lucky winner will enjoy a delicious selection of sandwiches, sweet treats, a hot drink of their choice, and even a cheeky glass of prosecco
As part of the campaign, Janis also handed out Forget-Me-Not flower seeds. The Forget-Me-Not is the official flower of Alzheimer’s Society and represents remembrance, support, and hope for those living with dementia and their loved ones. We hope these beautiful flowers will bloom as a lasting reminder of the importance of dementia awareness.

Crazy Lady Day!
What a fabulous day we had celebrating Crazy Lady Day with our amazing Care Professionals! Our Fun Fab Friday Friends is a weekly catch up for our hard working Care Professionals, ran by or Head of People, Jacquie.
From bright clothes to wild outfits and lots of laughter, everyone got involved and brought lots of fun and laughter to the afternoon. We raised £50 for Dementia Action Week – and we are still raising money! Thank you for everyone’s efforts and digging deep for this worthy cause.

Lucky Winners at Lichfield Memory Café
The celebrations continued at our Lichfield Memory Café, where we held a raffle to raise additional funds. Congratulations to Judith and Graham, who won a beautiful handmade teddy bear complete with a basket of Forget-Me-Not flowers. We know it has found a very loving home!
A huge congratulations also goes to Ann, who was the lucky winner of the Insomnia Café Afternoon Tea prize. We hope she enjoys every delicious bite!
We raised a grand total of £471!
Penny and Leighanne, our Memory Cafe Coordinators, presented the cheque to David & Margaret Barnes from the Alzheimer’s Society. They were truly grateful for our fundraising efforts ; the money will go towards research projects to improve dementia and develop targeted treatments.
Dementia Action Week is a powerful reminder of how important awareness, understanding, and community support are for those affected by dementia.
