Home Instead's Community Work: Impact and Importance

We continue to drive positive impact by supporting local community groups and charities.
In 2026, we have decided to channel our support into Tamworth & Lichfield with Janis, our Community Support Officer, liaising with local charities and groups to build stronger partnerships and connections within the community. In previous years we have raised money for charities including Cancer Research and our Winter Warmers’ campaign where donated clothes to a local homeless shelter in Atherstone.
Tasty Cafe in Lichfield
This quaint cafe, nestled in the heart of Lichfield, offers a tasty menu offering breakfast, sandwiches, light bites and cakes. In March 2026 , the cafe raised money for the St Giles hospice where proceeds from cake and tea / coffee sales went directly to this worthy cause. The Cafe also ran a ‘Book Swap’ where Home Instead Tamworth & Lichfield donated over 30 books to the cafe. Carol, the Tasty Cafe owner, was very appreciative of the book donations!
Our hope is that these books will bring a little extra comfort and enjoyment to visitors ; whether they fancy a quiet moment with a cuppa or want to share a story with friends. At Home Instead, we’re always looking for small ways to make a positive difference in our community, and we’re so pleased to support such a welcoming local business.

Odd and Socks Day – Raising money for Huntington’s Disease
Our lovely Care Professionals donned odd socks to raise money for a worthy cause ; Huntington’s Disease. This incurable disease affects the body’s nervous system ; the network of nerve tissues in the brain and spinal cord that coordinate your body’s activities. Huntington’s disease is genetic with 50:50 odds of inheriting it. That’s a one-in-two chance. Odds And Socks Day aims to highlight the odds of inheriting Huntington’s.
On 27 February 2026, we supported this worthy cause in our weekly Fun Fab Friday Friends. We raised £50 for the worthy cause ; which will help raise awareness and support the medical research in finding a cure.

MS Society – Our book donations helped raise money for this worthy cause
The MS Society supports those living with multiple sclerosis ; MS condition that affects nerves in your central nervous system. In MS, the coating (called myelin) that protects your nerves is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move, think and feel. The charity aims to raise money to invest in finding a cure, support their members, and bring a positive outlook on their lives.
Home Instead Lichfield, Tamworth & North Warwickshire donated books to the MS society book stand, which was held inside Tesco Lichfield. This book stand also had donations from other organisations, and they raised a grand total of 544.98!

Running for Memories: Zoe’s Mission to Support the Lichfield Memory Café
Zoe is on a mission to make a difference ; one mile at a time. She’s raising £500 for The Lichfield Memory Café, a local group that offers vital support to people living with dementia, as well as their families and carers. She has already surpassed the donation goal of £500 ( she has raised £1530 as of time of writing this, a week after the run took place!).
On Sunday 19th April 2026, Zoe and her sister Helen took on the challenge of the Lichfield Cathedral to Castle Run ;a demanding 10-mile route stretching all the way to Tamworth Castle. It’s no small feat, but for them, this run is about much more than endurance. It’s deeply personal.
Having cared for their mum, Zoe and Helen have experienced firsthand how dementia affects not just the individual, but everyone around them. That experience has inspired them to give back to a service that provides comfort, connection, and moments of joy during incredibly difficult times.
The Lichfield Memory Café is a place where people can come together each week to relax, chat, and take part in simple but meaningful activities—sharing tea and biscuits, singing, dancing, playing games, and getting creative. These moments may seem small, but they are invaluable to those who attend.
Run entirely by volunteers, the café counts on donations to keep going; covering essentials like room hire and activity costs. Zoe’s fundraising effort will help ensure that this warm and welcoming space can continue to support those who need it most.
Every donation, no matter the size, helps create more opportunities for connection, support, and cherished memories.
If you can, please consider supporting Zoe and Helen on their journey. It truly means the world.
