Our free Family Carers Open Day takes place on Thursday 24th July. Come for a non-obligation chat and complete our "Spot the Signs" Checklist.
Seeing Mum or Dad change as they get older is so common, and for many it encourages them to start exploring care options. It is a huge learning curve to gain all the information you need to support an ageing loved one and sometimes it feels like there is no-where to turn to. That’s why we are holding a Family Carers Open Day on July 24th 2025 at our office at 29c Hundred Business Park, Watchfield SN6 8TZ!
We will be open from 8.30am to 5.30pm to have a non-obligation chat with anyone interested in understanding their care options better. Drop in for refreshments and a friendly a one to one chat about your specific situation. We have years of experience helping families in widely varying circumstances, find a way to cope and to improve the quality of life for both the person needing care and their family carer/s.
The top signs that families are most likely to reference when making a care enquiry according to Home Instead’s poll are:
o Memory loss (70%)
o Personal hygiene (48%)
o Medication management (44%)
o Nutrition or weight loss/gain (31%)
o Safety concerns (31%)
At the Open Day will be sharing our “Spot the Signs” Checklist, which family carers can take a few moments to complete. This covers the main signs to look out for in an elderly relative. It is important to watch out for these signs because neglecting them may put your loved one at risk of further deterioration, for example, malnutrition, muscle loss and falls which lead to further mobility challenges. Often a grown-up child might know vaguely that ‘Mum isn’t how she once was” and our open day can help you explore specifically what the care needs might look like. As memory and cognitive issues affects many older people, we are including three opportunities to hear the Dementia Awareness Session which was created by the Swindon Dementia Action Alliance. This 30–45-minute workshop gives a good basic overview of dementia which we have found to be enlightening and extremely helpful to family carers, professionals and anyone wishing to truly understand people living with dementia more. We are passionate about dementia education and anyone is welcome as this overview is something everyone in society would do well to understand.
Come along to our Open Day (no need to book) between 8.30am- 5.30pm. Catch the Dementia Awareness Session at either 10am, 2pm or 4.45pm and the “Understanding your Care Options” at either 9am, 11.30am or 3.30pm.
