8 Free Memory Cafes in Swindon

Whether you’re after a friendly cuppa and a chat or after access to signposted organisations, Memory Cafés are a great place to spend a couple of hours in Swindon.

Getting out and about in your local area is a great way to stay engaged, active and happy in later years. Don’t confine your days out in Swindon to the standard cafés and attractions. There’s some of the fun to be had reminiscing, meeting new people and sharing a coffee and cake.

Wyvern Theatre Memory Cafe

Visit the Wyvern Theatre Memory Café for a great morning of refreshments, conversation and stimulating activities. The Café always has a wide range of rotating activities and attractions, everything from flower arranging all the way to visits from Llamas from a local farm all for a great price, FREE!

The theatre is Fully accessible to wheelchairs and also has plenty of (paid) on site parking. The Wyvern Theatre also sits on many of Swindon’s bus routes enabling easy access for many.

Sporting Memory Cafe

The Sporting Memory Café is run by Swindon Town Football Club Foundation and takes place at the Foundation Park building which has accessible to wheelchairs. There is parking available in their car park and right by the building for the disabled.

This is an inspiring café for those with an interest in sport, football and especially Swindon Town fans as the current coaches come and take questions and always have interesting behind the scenes football life tales to share. To find out more or to register email Shane on [email protected].

Haydon Wick Memory Café

Taking place at the Haydon Wick Bowls Club on Thames Avenue this wildly popular free Memory Café takes place fortnightly on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the Month between 10:30 and 12pm.

Haydon Wick Memory café boasts an interactive table for all sorts of activities, alongside this there is plenty of tea and cake to enjoy as well as a chance to meet some fantastic new friends and who may live near you in Swindon’s Haydon Wick!

Highworth Forget-Me-Not Café

Highworth is a beautiful village just on the outskirts of Swindon with not just its own vast array of restaurants, pubs and cafés catering for all they also have an absolutely fantastic free Memory Café that takes place on the fourth Wednesday of the Month between 2pm and 4pm.

The Highworth Forget-Me-Not Café in the past has had such a vast range of entertainment and activities. Everything from music to gardening all the way to quizzes and bingo! Taking place at the Highworth Community Centre there’s plenty of parking and easy access, you can also find buses from Swindon to the venue too.

Olive Tree Memory Café

Run by the Alzheimer’s Society and taking place on the second Thursday of the Month between 10:30am and 12pm at the Manor Garden Centre in Swindon, this is another great Memory Café in a fairly central location in Swindon.

The Olive Tree Memory Café is yet another great opportunity to meet with likeminded individuals and share a cup of tea and some cake. Yet again another free offering for the people of Swindon.

Pinetrees Memory Café

Taking place at the great facility of the Pinetrees Community Centre this great Memory Café provides excellent facilities to the people of Swindon’s Pinehurst and beyond. Which activities and of course the memory Café staple of plenty of Tea and cake, this café presents another great opportunity to meet likeminded people in Swindon and have some fun!

Wroughton Making Memories Café

This memory café is hosted within Prospect in their light and pleasant café area and is well supported with local volunteers and many relevant support organisations.  There is delicious tea/coffee and café served and there’s always an interesting activity whether that be the Rock Choir singing or a craft activity.

Chiseldon Memory Café

Chiseldon is on the outskirts of Swindon and has its own community and a great church hall which is the location for the memory café on the first Friday of the month 10-12pm.  This café likes music and usually has a singalong or even live musician playing which lights the guests who enjoy a cuppa, biscuits/cake and a sing-a-long.
