A Decade of Dedication: Celebrating Lisa Rosser’s 10-Year Journey at Home Instead Swansea

This year, Home Instead Swansea proudly celebrates a remarkable milestone—Care Manager Lisa Rosser’s 10-year anniversary with the company.

A person is holding a certificate in front of a wall displaying the "Home Instead" logo. The certificate is issued by the Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) and awarded to Lisa Rosser from Swansea University. It recognizes a Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management.

From a community carer to a trusted leader, Lisa’s journey is one of dedication, compassion, and a commitment to changing the face of ageing.

A Passion Born from Personal Experience

Lisa’s path into care was deeply personal. After caring for her late grandad, she realised just how vital home-based support could be.

“I always liked older people and felt I got on well with them, but looking after my grandad ignited a real passion. I cared for him because I was desperate to keep him at home and out of a care home. It was only after he passed that I realised how important domiciliary care is—and that I could help others grow old in the comfort of their own homes. That’s what brought me to Home Instead.”

Lisa transitioned from retail into care in 2015, stepping into her first role as a Community Carer. While new to professional care, her natural ability to connect with people soon became apparent.

“I wasn’t sure where applying for the role would take me, but I quickly realised care was my calling, and I knew straight away that I had made the right decision’

Growing with Home Instead

Lisa’s dedication and warmth made her a firm favourite among her clients, and it wasn’t long before the office team saw her potential. Within her first year, she was invited to join the on-call team, supporting carers out of office hours.

By 2017, Lisa had taken on the role of Office Scheduler, carefully crafting rotas to ensure both clients and care professionals had consistency.

“Scheduling isn’t just about logistics—it’s about making sure every client gets the right care from their regular carers. While every team member has a schedule that works around their home life. It’s a tricky balance, but I enjoyed the challenge’

Her leadership skills continued to shine, leading to her promotion as Deputy Manager in 2019, then finally Care Manager in 2021, where she remains today.

Moments That Stay With You

Throughout her career, Lisa has formed lasting bonds with clients, but some experiences have been truly unforgettable.

“I will always remember the time when I was supporting a lady at end-of-life. She lived alone, had no family, and I was the closest person to her. I sat with her right to the very end, just being there in her time of need. We chatted and laughed together until the moment she passed beside me. That experience has stayed with me, and I will always remember her.”

It’s moments like these that remind Lisa why she loves what she does.

“Looking back at all the clients we have supported, I often reflect on reviews. There’s no better feeling than reading how grateful families are and knowing how much we’ve helped them look after their loved ones.”

Leading with Compassion

Lisa’s journey from Community Carer to Care Manager has shaped how she supports her team today.

“If someone on our team seems off—not themselves, maybe calling in sick—I always try to look beyond just the surface. There’s often something going on at home, and I know first-hand how much life outside of work can affect us. So rather than jumping straight to discipline, I focus on understanding and working with them to find a solution that fits their situation. People don’t always need pressure—they just need support.”

Her empathetic leadership doesn’t go unnoticed by the Care Professionals either…

‘We’ve really felt supported by the office team, notably Lisa. When calling in with a problem, she drops everything to be there to support us and any problems we may be facing. Commendation where commendation is due. Lisa is a star!’ – Marsha (Care Professional)

Advice for Those Starting in Care

Lisa has built her career around care, and when asked what advice she would give to someone just starting out, her response was simple yet heartfelt.

“Care is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever come across. There’s no better feeling than helping others in such a meaningful way. I would always say—you have to try it.”
