Home Instead Singing Group

Home Instead believe that singing and other sociable community activity is an essential factor in living well so we set up a new singing group for seniors across the area.

Home Instead Singing Group

Recognising that social engagement in the community is so important to physical and mental wellbeing, Home Instead has established a singing group in Hagley called “Young at Heart”.  Meeting on the first and third Wednesday every month, the group focusses on fun and enjoyment with songs chosen by the group rather than trying to achieve high levels of technical ability.  Led by well known singing teacher, Margaret Jones the group has grown from strength to strength with singers from Hagley to Halesowen and from Belbroughton to Brierley Hill.  Singing is just one possible activity included in the Home Instead “What’s on Where” guide demonstrating our commitment to help seniors to stay physically and mentally active.

Here is our summary of reasons for joining a singing group:

  1. Singing releases feel-good hormones that improve mood and well-being.
  2. It reduces stress levels and promotes relaxation.
  3. Singing strengthens respiratory muscles and improves breathing.
  4. It boosts the immune system, enhancing overall health.
  5. Singing improves cardiovascular health and lung capacity.
  6. It enhances cognitive function and memory.
  7. Singing promotes self-confidence and self-expression.
  8. It fosters social connections and a sense of belonging.
  9. Singing increases energy levels and decreases fatigue.
  10. It brings joy, happiness, and a sense of fulfillment.
