Local man, Mark Bushell who works for Home Instead Senior Care, providers of at-home care to help older people stay in their own homes across Stockport, was extremely honoured to win the coveted Home Care Co-Ordinator of the Year award at the national finals of the Great British Care Awards.
The national awards are the culmination of the search to find the very best people in care, bringing together the winners from nine regional GBCA awards held in autumn 2013 to compete again to become national champions. The awards celebrate excellence across the social care sector and pay tribute to individuals who have excelled in their work.
Mark (46) who lives in Northenden, was ‘over the moon’ to receive the Home Care Co-ordinator Award, which is presented to an individual who demonstrated to the judges their knowledge and skill in utilising their team in an effective and efficient way.
The award was presented to Mark by Glen Mason, from the Department of Health which also sponsored the award.
Mark explained, “It was wonderful to be acknowledged for the work I do. I enjoy making a positive impact on people’s lives. My role allows me to use my communication and organisational skills, but at the heart of everything I do is arranging the perfect match between our caregivers and clients”.
Home Instead owner David Moore commented, “We are so proud of Mark, he is such a key member of our team. His role is really important to Home Instead as it involves the co-ordination of our caregivers and their clients. Communication is key to what we do and Mark ensures that everyone involved in the care of our clients is kept informed, what is happening and when, making sure that we offer only the very best outcomes for all concerned. Well done to Mark and our team.”
