The inaugural Age UK Tameside Golf Day last Thursday 27th June was a huge success despite the rain trying to put a dampener on the day. 12 teams turned out to support the day and raise funds for Age UK Tameside; who are an independent local charity, committed to serving the needs of older people in Tameside, and to remain active, maintain independence and improve their quality of life since 1974.

Home Instead Senior Care in Stockport and Tameside was proud to be headline sponsor for the event which raised over £3,200. Speaking about the sponsorship, David Moore, Managing Director said: “Since starting the business nearly 7 years ago, we have had a very close relationship with both Age UK Tameside and Stockport. The service we provide to help people to live independently in their own homes fits well with the support Age UK provide. It was a pleasure to help generate much needed funds for Age UK Tameside but also raise awareness of the work they do.”

Bernadette Ashcroft, Chief Executive Officer commented: “I want to thank Home Instead for supporting our inaugural golf day. Their support was phenomenal and it was great to have such a ‘hands on’ headline sponsor. I have received a lot of very positive comments about the day and raising over £3,200 was absolutely fantastic. Home Instead’s contribution was very much appreciated and helped make the event a real success.”

The team from New Charter Housing won the main prize of the day and the trophy, and due to the fantastic generosity of the local community over 20 raffle prizes were won.
