“We have lived in Heald Green for over 28 years and never missed a festival!”, was the bold claim by David Moore, Managing Director of at-home care company Home Instead Senior Care.

The Heald Green festival: the coming together of the whole community in a fun filled, action packed afternoon for all the family. This year, as always, it took place on the village field, behind the Village Hall on Outwood Road on Saturday 28th June from 1pm to 4pm.

The festival kicked off with the parade at 1 o’clock, followed by the Mayor of Stockport, who as well as meeting with the public and the many stall holders, presented the prizes for the art competition. The entertainment on the field included: The Phoenix Morris Dance Troupe, Punch and Judy, The Oldham Pipe Band, the Natalie Bates’ Dancers, Jeon-Sa Taekwondo Demonstration and the Stockport Silver Band and Outwood Primary School Steel Band. The day was completed with the Presentation of Festival Shield and Football tournament medals.

Home Instead Senior Care were one of 50 stalls at the festival. Joanna Moore said: “We have had a stall for the last few years and have spoken to many families whose lives have been thrown into disarray through the illness of a loved one such as cancer or dementia. Because we know a lot of people in the community and them having trust in us has played a big part in people accepting our help”.

Mark Hunter, local Lib Dem MP stopped at the stall to talk about the ‘much needed’ service we provide. Mark has been a great supporter of Home Instead over the years at events and open days and campaigns very hard for the benefit of the local community. Mark has been leading a campaign against nuisance calls which fits well with the Home Instead “Senior Fraud Protection” program which has been rolled out this year.
