The Stockport office provides award winning home care to people living in the borough of Stockport, allowing them to remain independent, and to continue to live with dignity in their own homes. The areas serviced run from Woodford, Bramhall and Heald Green in the south, The Heatons and Reddish in the west, up to Hazel Grove and Offerton in the east and Brinnington and Bredbury in the North.
Home Instead Senior Care in Stockport is owned by David and Joanna Moore, who started providing care in Stockport in August 2006. Their first client was looked after by their daughter Louise, who was their first CAREGiver.
David says "I started out my working life as an engineer, building chemical plants and designing components for nuclear submarines. For the last 20 years I have been in the textile industry, latterly flying the world to source low cost labour to manufacture combat clothing and work wear. I decided that there had to be more to life!"
Joanna says "I trained as a medical secretary after leaving college. After our two children were born I worked at the local Playgroup and then as a Teaching Assistant at Primary School. I worked as a volunteer at toddler group and Rainbow Guides".
David and Joanna chose Home Instead Senior Care because it presented a real chance to make a difference to people’s lives. David adds, “We wanted to work within our local community having lived in Stockport for most of our lives and having had personal experience of poor care for Joanna's Grandmother. From the very beginning we set out to provide a high quality, personalised service to enable clients to live independently in their own home, to improve their quality of life and allow them to make choices about their lifestyle. We have continually strived hard to achieve this by building the right team in the office and recruiting CAREGivers who have the necessary experience, skills and particularly, empathy for supporting people.
“We have built a fantastic reputation in the area and nationally have won numerous domiciliary care awards for in home care. We have established close relationships with organisations such as Age UK Stockport, Alzheimer's Society, Signpost and Disability Stockport. We work with Social Workers, Stockport Adult Social Care, District Nurses and the CCG Continuing Health Care Team and our clients include those who receive direct payments from the Local Authority, and those referred to us by the Primary Care Trust.
“We offer continuity of care by allocating the same ‘matched’ CAREGiver to our clients, which ensures that a relationship can be developed and dignity is maintained. We specialise in cases of disablement, all forms of dementia, and palliative care, with staff who are properly trained to help clients with these particular needs. It is also possible for us to provide respite care in the home in the case of someone seeking a holiday or break. All our staff and CAREGivers are subject to a full Criminal Records Bureau check and have to provide us with SIX references.
“The work that we carry out has a positive impact, not only on the people we look after, but also their families. The best way to sum up our aim is to say that we will only deliver home care services that we would be happy for a member of our families to receive. We are a people centred organisation and we look forward to helping you or a loved one continue to lead an independent life.
