Being a CAREGiver
I worked for 30 years in an Office and was never really satisfied, so when my Dad became ill and my Mom couldn't cope, I wanted to do a job that would give me more time to spend with them.
So I applied to be a Care worker with Home Instead Senior Care. I had never done care work before, but the friendly staff made the transition easy and because you are matched to your clients you look forward to seeing them as much as they look forward to seeing you.
I can honestly say that I now have Job Satisfaction thanks to Home Instead Senior Care.
I work from home part time as an administrator for our own business and I wanted to do something else, mainly to get out of the house.
One of my friends mentioned care work, which I wrinkled my nose up at, as three members of my family had been care workers and their experience was not good, they had very little time with clients and where called upon to see to clients they had never met etc.
My friend told me to try Home Instead Senior Care Stafford as they were not like other care companies, so that's just what I did and I was offered a job. I had helped to care for my Mum in the past but being a Care worker was completely different from office work but I thought I would give it a go.
The training was very good and all the staff where helpful, friendly and approachable. Once trained I was then introduced to clients I was going to care for, which I think is great, not just for them but also for me because when I go into the client on my own I know what needs to be done and the client has someone they have met in the house and not a stranger.
I love it and my clients are just lovely, I didn't expect to enjoy it so much but it’s such a good feeling knowing you have helped someone who wants to be in their own home but needs a little, or a lot of help to do just that.
My Father's greatest worry was that he would not be able to return to the bungalow that he had lived in for nearly 15 years, so it is with thanks to Kim and Sam that his last weeks were filled with care, affection and warmth.Client's Son, Stafford
