Why Dementia Care may be right for you

Our minimum one-hour visits allow time to really connect with the person beyond their dementia, recognising their life history, preferences and personality. We adapt our support as the condition progresses, perhaps initially providing companionship and gentle prompting, later helping more with personal care and daily activities. Throughout this journey, we focus on what the person can still do rather than what they can’t, preserving independence and dignity while providing the right level of support at the right time.

Tailored Dementia Care in South Norfolk & East Suffolk

A dementia care visit might include gentle reminiscence using familiar photographs, preparing a favourite meal together, or perhaps a short walk in well-known surroundings. Our Care Professionals understand that someone living with dementia often needs more time to process information, so we patiently allow conversations and activities to unfold naturally. We know from experience that certain times of day can feel particularly challenging, and we thoughtfully adjust our approach for each person. For some, mornings can feel overwhelming, so the Care Professional arrives early to create a calm, reassuring start to the day.

Trusted Dementia Care from experienced home care professionals in South Norfolk & East Suffolk

Home Instead is proud to be the only home care provider in the UK offering City & Guilds assured dementia training to our Care Professionals. This comprehensive programme goes beyond basic awareness, teaching practical techniques for communication, managing challenging situations, and understanding the experience from the perspective of someone living with dementia. Mark, our owner, ensures our team understands the importance of consistent faces and approaches when supporting people with memory challenges. Our training includes recognising subtle changes that might indicate health issues, which is particularly important as people with dementia might struggle to communicate discomfort or pain.
