Dementia Action Week Spotlight 19-23 May
✨ Dementia Action Week Spotlight ✨
We’re thrilled to share that Jane, our dedicated Care Coordinator, has completed her Dementia Foundation Trainers Courseaccredited by City & Guilds and is now fully equipped to train and support our Care Professionals! 💚
Training isn’t typically part of Jane’s day-to-day role, so stepping into this area has brought some exciting new challenges and learning opportunities her way.
Jane found the course insightful and picked up some fantastic hints and tips to help prepare our team to support clients living with dementia with greater confidence and compassion.
At Home Instead Southend, we believe knowledge is key to providing the very best care — and we’re so proud of Jane for taking this important step forward.
💚 Here are a few simple ways to support memory and reduce anxiety by keeping hands busy:
• Arts and crafts
• Creating a scrapbook or memory book
• Sorting buttons or coins
• Folding towels or fabrics
• Playing with sensory or fidget items
• Looking through photo albums
• Listening to music while doodling or colouring
• Watch relatable content – Try the Home Truths YouTube channel
• Join a local music group – Music can spark memories and lift spirits
These gentle, engaging activities can help ease restlessness, spark memories, and provide comfort — especially for those living with dementia.
At Home Instead, we believe meaningful moments make all the difference. 💜
