Established in 1819, the merchant business has been blending tea and roasting coffee for more than 200 years! Customers can shop online for their wide range of teas and coffees or sample them for themselves at their lovely Kendal café, the Farrer’s Tea & Coffee House, which is located on the town high street. More than 30 different varieties of coffee are available to complement their lunch menu, all freshly roasted!

Low Sizergh Barn

An award-winning farm shop and café near Kendal, Low Sizergh Barn is a unique place to have a lovely lunch out. With their fruit, vegetables, eggs, and milk all produced on the farm itself, the café serves an assortment of excellent locally-sourced, homemade meals every day of the week. In fact, almost everything served at Low Sizergh Barn comes from a local farmer, butcher, baker, or other small business! The café’s gallery windows even look down into the farm’s milking parlour, allowing visitors to watch the milking process in action.

The Hare & Hound

For those who prefer a pub lunch, the Hare & Hounds is a lovely place to spend a picturesque afternoon in the Lyth Valley. Originally a coaching inn built in the 16th century, the Hare & Hounds has retained much of its rustic charm as a Lakeland village pub, while also offering locally-sourced meals for dining customers and guests. The pub can be found in the village of Levens, near Kendal, on the edge of the South Lakes. In fact, the pub is close to Levens Park, making it an ideal spot to have lunch if you’re planning an afternoon walk!

Wilfs

Situated in a lovely spot overlooking the River Kent, Wilfs occupies what was once a bobbin loft, now transformed into a cosy rural café. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to have a nice lunch out or just a tea or coffee, Wilfs is a favourite of many locals who frequent the nearby riverside walks.
