Cumbria Deaf Association: Garden Rescue

Our Care Professionals & Support Team kindly donated their time and effort into making Cumbria Deaf Association's garden ready for reopening.

After the devastating news that the Cumbria Deaf Association was broken in to in June, our Care Professionals and Support Team kindly donated their time and effort into making the space ready for the arrival of their members in September.

The site in Kendal was targeted by thieves, who broke doors and locks, to steal “almost worthless” items like old laptops. Caroline said they climbed out of the window, left footprints everywhere, kicked through doors, upended desks, sand and plants everywhere.

The broken glass from the broken doors left the hearing dogs unable to work in some of the rooms and garden area. We got in touch with Caroline offering our help and some of our Care Professionals and Office Team volunteered their time and effort to try and make the space more welcoming to the members.

They weeded and cleaned the front and side garden, planted all new plants with new compost, painted the planters and really made the front garden look lovely.
