Dementia Bus Experience

At Home Instead South Cheshire, we are proud to lead the way in raising awareness around dementia and delivering exceptional dementia care in South Cheshire. On Thursday 29th May, we hosted a powerful and interactive Dementia Awareness Event  that left a lasting impression on everyone involved, the arrival of the virtual reality dementia experience through Training2Care.

This innovative mobile experience offered members of the public, local professionals, and businesses a chance to walk in the shoes of someone living with dementia. Why did we want to do this? To develop a deeper understanding of the condition and a stronger, more united community.

What is the Dementia Experience Bus?

The Dementia Bus simulates what it’s like to live with dementia, using sensory tools and scenarios to replicate the challenges people may face in everyday life. It’s a proven method for helping caregivers, families and professionals understand dementia from the inside out, and to deliver more compassionate, effective support.

A Fantastic Turnout from the South Cheshire Community

We were thrilled by the response from our local community. The event welcomed:

• Members of the public eager to learn more about dementia
• Local health and social care professionals who support individuals living with dementia
• Local businesses wanting to become more dementia-friendly
• Even the Town Crier who helped to draw attention to the cause in true Cheshire style!

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees describing the experience as “life-changing”, “eye-opening,” and “something everyone should do.”

Supporting Dementia Care in South Cheshire

One of our core missions at Home Instead South Cheshire is to provide compassionate, person-centered dementia care  that supports both clients and their families.
