Home Instead Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Oswestry were delighted to recently attend the “Dementia Showcase Day” hosted by Shropshire Partners in Care.

We enjoyed the presentations on food and hydration, as well as activities such as singing and visiting the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus that allowed us to participate in training to gain an insight into what it is like for those who are living with dementia.

Armed with the latest information and training on texture-modified food from the day we ensure that all our clients continue to eat tasty, nutritious and healthy meals that meet their nutritional demands. We also encourage all our clients to drink plenty of fluids to keep hydrated – especially during this very hot weather.

Home Instead Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Oswestry host a sing-along event on the last Friday of every month in Bayston Hill Methodist Church from 13:45-16:00, and we were delighted to see our partners Singing Medicine in action on the Showcase Day.

The Dementia Showcase Day also discussed some of the ways that we can further support our clients who are part of the LGBTQ+ community. If you or your loved ones would like support, don’t hesitate to reach out to us or to SAND (Safe Aging No Discrimination).

We had a lovely day meeting lots of new people and talking about how important is to raise awareness about dementia in all areas of Shropshire.

If you or someone you know has dementia and would benefit from our support, give us a call! All our staff have specialist training and would love to hear from you!
