A Wonderful Launch for the Music & Memory Dementia Café in Angmering

The Music & Memory Dementia Café has launched in Angmering, offering free monthly sessions with music, activities and support. A local collaboration.

Music & Memory Dementia Café

We are so pleased to share that the launch of the Music & Memory Dementia Café at St Margaret’s Church Hall in Angmering was a truly wonderful success.

Despite a rainy morning, we had an incredible turnout, and it was clear the weather didn’t put our community off coming together for something so meaningful. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better launch event, and it was heart-warming to see just how much it meant to everyone who attended.

A Warm, Welcoming Space for Connection

From the moment people arrived, the room quickly filled with conversation, laughter and friendly faces. It was genuinely lovely to see everyone talking, socialising and connecting with each other, whether they came along with a loved one, as a carer, or simply to be part of a supportive and understanding environment.

There was plenty to get involved with throughout the morning, including:

  • Colouring and creative activities

  • Puzzles and brain games

  • Fidget toys and sensory items

  • And of course, lots of refreshments including tea, coffee, cake and biscuits enjoyed by all

The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and it was wonderful to see people feeling comfortable, included and supported.

The Magic of Music

One of the most special parts of the morning was the music.

Hearing the room light up with old-time favourites, played live with piano and guitar, created such a magical feeling. Music has a unique ability to bring back memories, spark joy and encourage connection, and this was truly felt throughout the café as people listened, smiled and joined in.

A Community Collaboration to Be Proud Of

We are proud to be part of the Arun Dementia Alliance, and to have played a role in creating this invaluable community event. Over the past year, the alliance has been working closely together to explore how we can best support those living with dementia, memory problems, and the people who care for them across our local area.

Seeing an idea that has been in the making for the last year come to life so successfully was incredibly rewarding.

A huge thank you goes to:

Your involvement and encouragement helped make the launch such a special occasion.
