Catherine joined us in early September 2014. Like many CAREGivers she was apprehensive at the start, but managed to work through the challenges she faced in her new job and the situations that she found herself in with clients. She has always shown understanding and willing in her attitude towards the clients we asked her to cover, some even at short notice.
What Cat says about her role as a CAREGiver;- “I do a job I love, especially Sundays as there is not a lot of traffic. I look at Monday to Friday as my main job and Sundays as my overtime.” Her motivation, apart from her caring spirit, is partly due to an eagerness to learn as much as she can and progress in her chosen field of work. Her modest and unpretentious and infectious nature has shone through.
We asked Cat what she most enjoyed about her job and she said “It’s like seeing your friends, getting them ready for the day, so they feel good about themselves” Noticing how far Cat has come along in her journey as a Home Instead CAREGiver, she was shortlisted from a very worthy selection from our CAREGivers of the month throughout 2015. We are extremely proud of every single CAREGiver who works for Ruislip & Harrow Home Instead Senior care office. It was a difficult one to call, but after much soul searching, we felt it was only right to award her with the CAREGiver of the Year 2015. True to form she showed her appreciation with a squeal and said “I can’t believe I’ve got it! I thought I couldn’t study, I’ve had a lot of hurdles to overcome. I feel proud of myself, I’ve beaten my health issues, and I’m going to sleep with it under my pillow tonight. I’m so excited, I can’t stop jumping around, and my heart is racing”
What a client’s family member said about Cat-
As well as praising the business for having such caring and professional staff Mrs A. Hall said“Cat has been very helpful and supportive not only to my mother but also to me. I can go to work in the morning and have total peace of mind. To know that Cat is so reliable, the continuity of service is great and feels like Cat is sharing the care with me and is a part of everything revolving around my mother’s care” Mrs Hall understands that gaining someone’s trust takes time, and added “My mother is not accepting of many people, but Cat managed to turn that around.”
Ginette Meade owner of Home Instead Ruislip & Harrow says- “She always leaves you with a big smile on your face! She has a natural ability to deal with clients, especially her clients who have Dementia and Alzheimer’s. She has progressed so much during the year, and has regained her confidence and also started driving again! Cat is honest and loyal, she has a great sense of humour and is hardworking. Congratulations!”
