As we get older, everyday household tasks can start to take more time and energy than they used to. Things like vacuuming and changing bed linen can begin to feel overwhelming, and when left undone, they can affect both physical safety and emotional well-being. At Home Instead Richmond, we provide home help and housekeeping support for older adults who wish to remain living at home, helping to maintain a clean, calm and comfortable environment. We’re proud to be the first and only home care provider in the borough to receive an Outstanding rating from the CQC, and to be named one of the Top 20 Large & Mid-size Home Care Groups for three years running. With us, you can feel confident that your home and your loved ones are in good hands.

Sometimes, it’s the small tasks —laundry, preparing lunch, and keeping on top of dusting —that make living at home feel more difficult. That’s where our home help and housekeeping service steps in. We offer reliable support designed to lighten the load while keeping everyday routines intact. Whether it’s changing bed linens, picking up groceries from Waitrose, or simply keeping the home comfortable and clean, we tailor each visit to your loved one’s preferences, offering not just a helping hand but the consistency and reassurance of a familiar face. Over time, this support brings more than just a tidy home; it lays the foundation for a trusted relationship. So, if needs change, any future support feels more natural and less daunting.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.

At Home Instead Richmond, we’re committed to improving the well-being of older adults, not just by supporting visible needs, but by recognising the ones that often go unnoticed. For example, one client initially came to us for help preparing meals and keeping her fridge stocked. Over time, her care professional noticed she’d become less chatty and withdrawn. Gently and with encouragement, she suggested outings to Petersham Nurseries to choose seeds and plants to expand her vegetable garden, an activity she’d once loved but hadn’t done in some weeks. For us, home help is never just about the house; it’s about seeing the person behind the tasks and supporting them in every way we can.

At Home Instead Richmond, we understand that home help extends beyond simply ticking off a to-do list; it’s about creating a space where clients feel at ease and supported. Each member of our team shares a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they support, and that means bringing more than our award-winning training to each visit. As one client shared, “She’s become such a steady presence in my day, her visits make me feel comfortable and cared for.” It’s this kind of trust and consistency that has helped us earn our Outstanding CQC rating and be named Home Carer of the Year in 2019. Because for us, a tidy home is just the beginning; it’s a smiling face that matters most.
A well-maintained home can make a world of difference, not just for comfort but also for confidence. When day-to-day tasks feel under control, it becomes easier for older adults to say yes to the things they enjoy. At Home Instead Richmond, our home help service goes hand-in-hand with helping your loved ones get out and reconnecting with others in the community. We’re proud to work alongside local initiatives, such as the Twickenham Wellbeing Centre, run by Age UK Richmond, which hosts inclusive art and knitting groups, and the age-friendly exercise classes at Putney Leisure Centre, where staying active also means staying social. By easing the pressures at home, we help open the door to a more connected, fulfilling life beyond it.
