To get involved we hosted a musical event all about raising the awareness of the impact that music can have on the brain, particularly those living with dementia. One of our wonderful Caregivers Dee visited some fantastic clients and together they raised awareness by singing songs together. Dee has a selection of instruments for the clients to play along with and a thoroughly enjoyable sing along with was has by everyone.
We are extremely proud to have received this award, based upon the feedback of our wonderful CAREGivers. We will continue to strive to provide all of our employees, both now and in the future, with a happy and supportive work environment. Steven Frost, CEO of WorkBuzz (formerly smith+henderson), the awards organisers said, “We would like to congratulate Home Instead Senior Care Preston & South Ribble as a 5 Star Employer. What makes this award extra special is it’s based on feedback from their CAREGivers and is only awarded to the top 10% of companies that enter the Best Employers in Care Awards. The care sector too often receives negative publicity – in contrast Home Instead Senior Care has a strong culture whereby CAREGivers have the right support and training; are well led and have a strong commitment to deliver outstanding care.”

Martin Jones, CEO of Home Instead Senior Care, said, “These results are made all the better by knowing that it’s your client’s recommendations and reviews that have placed Home Instead so highly in these awards. It makes it very real and I am proud that we are being recognised for delivering excellent care to older people the length and breadth of the UK. We always strive to provide the best care service and these accolades reinforce our hard work and dedication to all of our clients.” Amanda Hopkins, reviews manager of homecare.co.uk, said: “People are living longer with more complex conditions, so home care providers, which offer compassionate, personalised care to people in their own homes are becoming increasingly crucial in today’s society. “Home Instead Senior Care has proved that it provides a high standard of care and we’d like to congratulate it on being a top home care group! We feel it is a real achievement to be recognised for being one of the Top 20 home care groups in the UK.”
Home Instead Senior Care has pledged its support to BBC Music Day 2019 by getting as many people singing for dementia as possible by 2020. Across the UK, a number of Home Instead Senior Care offices will be taking on musical activities on September 26th which marks the fifth day of its kind to focus on music and wellbeing and highlight the power of music to inspire and bring people together. The home care company is one of around 50 organisations in the UK working collaboratively with BBC Music Day to help bring music to everyone living with dementia in the UK by 2020, using the music day as a platform. Activities planned by Home Instead Senior Care during the week include singing classes, choirs and other musical events. Follow Home Instead on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/homeinsteaduk/ to find out more about the events happening UK wide. Martin Jones, CEO of Home Instead Senior Care said: “More than half of our clients are living with dementia and as specialists in the dementia care field, we understand the different ways in which to support people to be able to live their lives as well as possible. “We know from our own research and a campaign we ran called ‘Songs To Remember’ that music has an astounding effect on people with dementia – not only does it help them reminisce and recall happy memories but we’ve seen cases where it’s helped people to come out of their shell completely and start talking again. “Many of our clients love singing with their CAREGivers or playing a musical instrument and the impacts on wellbeing are far reaching. “We’re thrilled to collaborate with BBC on their fifth Music Day and our offices across the UK are busy arranging choirs, singing events and other musical activities to bring joy and happiness to older people with dementia.” BBC has launched its own Music Memories website to helps people create a playlist of personally meaningful music.
