Home Instead Norwich is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, reflecting on a journey of compassion, innovation, and deep community ties.
Since opening in 2010 with a vision to “improve the lives of older people in Norwich”, the branch has helped over two thousand ageing adults live independently in their own homes, offering not just care—but companionship, dignity, and independence. Franchise Owner Chris Carter shared his reflections on the milestone:
“Fifteen years ago, we were using paper forms and driving around Norwich to collect them. Today, technology has transformed how we work—making us more responsive and freeing up time to focus on what really matters: people.”
Beyond care, Home Instead Norwich has become a vital part of the local economy, creating hundreds of jobs and partnering with many local suppliers in IT, business services, cleaning and more. But for Chris, the real impact lies in the relationships built:
“I’ve had the privilege of hearing incredible life stories from our clients. It’s taught me that health, family, and community are everything. Watching friendships grow—between clients, Care Professional’s and colleagues—has been one of my greatest joys.”
The organisation has earned national and county-level recognition, including a National Care Award for Dementia Care and a Norfolk Business Award for Making a Positive Impact in the Community. But Chris is quick to credit the people behind the success:
“I’ve loved seeing our team grow – gaining qualifications, building confidence, and discovering careers they never imagined. Norwich is full of unsung heroes who serve others with humility and heart.”
Looking ahead, Home Instead Norwich is exploring how innovations like artificial intelligence can enhance care delivery. Yet its mission remains unchanged: to improve the lives of older people in Norwich with compassion, respect, and excellence.
