Getting out shouldn’t feel out of reach. Whether it’s a walk in a favourite park, a trip to the shops, or simply a catch-up over tea and cake, these everyday moments can bring joy, comfort, and connection. But without the right support, they can also feel overwhelming.

At Home Instead Norwich, we’re here to change that. Our Care Professionals help older adults rediscover the places they love, and explore new ones, by offering safe, compassionate, and tailored support.

Simple Outings, Meaningful Impact

A day out doesn’t need to be extravagant to be enjoyable. We regularly support clients with familiar local outings, such as:

  • Browsing plants at Notcutts Garden Centre (Daniels Road) followed by a relaxing break in the café
  • Walking through Eaton Park, soaking up the calm of wide open spaces and leafy paths
  • Spending time in Norwich city centre, whether to shop, enjoy a coffee, or do a bit of people watching

These outings help maintain independence, lift moods, and encourage routine and confidence. Our Care Professionals are there to lend a steadying arm as required.

Social Time at Our Companionship Cafés

We proudly run four Companionship Cafés across Norwich, providing a regular chance for socialising, laughter, and light refreshments. You’ll find us in:

– Hellesdon

– Taverham

– Thorpe St Andrew

– Earlham

Each café offers:

– A warm welcome and friendly atmosphere

– A space to connect with others and build friendships

– Support from Care Professionals getting to and from the event

We stay with clients throughout, ensuring they’re engaged, comfortable, and free to enjoy the moment.

Confidently Attending Medical Appointments

From GP check-ups to hospital visits, medical appointments are an important part of staying healthy, but getting there can be difficult. That’s why we offer support with:

  • Appointments at local GP surgeries, Norwich Community Hospital, and Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital
  • Door-to-door transport and help with mobility or accessibility needs
  • Companionship during longer visits or waiting times

We also work closely with Norwich Door to Door, a valued community partner that helps our clients access essential services with confidence and dignity.

Day Trips and Special Outings

Life doesn’t stop with age, it simply changes pace. And we’re here for it all.

Our Care Professionals can support clients to enjoy local highlights such as:

  • Peaceful boat rides on the Norfolk Broads
  • Ice creams and sea air in Cromer or Sheringham
  • Seasonal events, fairs, and activities from our What’s on Where guide
  • Garden centre visits, hobby groups, or exploring a new café

These days out offer more than just fresh air. They create joy, encourage socialising, and make lasting memories.
