Amazing Ally receives career boost thanks to Home Instead’s career pathway

Home Instead Norwich has launched a Care Career Pathway, giving care professionals a clear route to getting the training and experience they need to perform exceptionally well

Local home care company Home Instead Norwich has launched a Care Career Pathway, giving budding care professionals a clear route to getting the training and experience that stands them in great stead to perform exceptionally well in a care role.

Home Instead’s Care Career Pathway involves care professionals progressing on a journey with various stages, from acquiring the skills to confidently deliver exceptional care, to specialising in areas of care such as Parkinson’s, to passing on the skills to new care professionals.

Ally Knight from Sprowston is just one of the company’s enthusiastic care professionals undergoing the pathway, having completed a Level 2 in adult social care; a course arranged and funded by Home Instead. She has furthered her skills in meeting the needs of older people who need support at home, including help with dressing and bathing, not to mention learning how to provide emotional support.

Ally says: “Many people might consider care simply as a job, but I can vouch for the fact that it’s a career that provides an abundance of opportunities. Home Instead has given me a clear route into becoming qualified and confident in my role thanks to excellent training and the chance to build on my experience. There are many areas of care that you can specialise in, including dementia and Parkinson’s, and I’m looking forward to having the skills to support a diverse range of care needs.”

The Care Career Pathway is one reason why working at Home Instead is ideal for people keen to try something new. Another care professional, local lady Caroline Martin, worked as an MD and decided to make a bold move and leave the corporate world three years ago. As somebody that always wanted to work in a role that involved helping others, she joined Home Instead as a care professional. Undergoing the first stage of the company’s training, Caroline is confidently delivering care in the community and reaping the satisfaction of a hugely rewarding role.

Caroline says: “I underwent a massive career change and I’m pleased to say that it was totally worth it! I have built friendships with my clients and it’s so heart-warming to know that I am making it possible for older people in the area to stay living in the home they love if they require care.”

Home Instead is looking for new Care Professionals to follow in Ally’s and Caroline’s footsteps and join as a care professional, beginning their exciting Care Career Pathway.
