Have you seen our new Home Instead advert? Our new advert highlights the amazing support Carers provide their loved ones, and how Home Instead can help you to 'Take Care' too.

Have you seen our new Home Instead advert? Our new ‘Take Care’ advert aims to highlight that care at home is available. As well as shining a light on the amazing support family carers provide for their loved ones.

While helping a loved one in need is something that many would do, it can be a lot for someone to take on. To see someone you love, your Mum, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, Grandparent, Sibling – struggle with their health, their mobility, their memory it can put a lot of pressure on a person. While you want to help and aim to be strong so you can support that person, you may also feel as though you are becoming a carer more than a daughter, son, grandchild and so on.

This is something we find regularly. That someone’s family have been providing amazing support, but that they are beginning to miss being a relative and not a carer. Many are not aware of the support that is out there, and that you can receive care at home. This means that your loved one can stay in their own home, somewhere they know and feel safe and still get the support they need.

At Home Instead Northampton, we strive to support our clients to stay in their own homes. This is somewhere that they know, recognise, and feel safe. This may be somewhere that is full of memories and love. We work with both our clients and their families to ensure that our clients are receiving all the care that they want and need.

Our clients are at the heart of what we do. At the start of the care process with Home Instead, we complete an assessment where we learn all about our clients and the support they want and need. We learn about their lives, their interests, and what is important to them. This helps us to create a Care Plan that is centred around each individual client.

While our clients are our primary focus, we also provide support for their families and loved ones. For those that want to return to doing the nice things with their loved ones. For those who want to be daughter or son and not carer. For those that have provided help and support for someone, but they are now struggling themselves and need some support. Through each Care Visit, our Care Professionals help ease the pressure off shoulders, and provide a level of reassurance that Mum, Dad, Aunt, Uncle, or Grandparent are safe and being cared for the way they deserve.

At Home Instead Northampton, our Care Professionals use the Birdie app to record what support they provide to each client during their Care Visits. With permission, loved ones of each client are also able to access this app to see what has happened during each visit. This gives family members the peace of mind to be able to see how their relatives are, and the level of support that is being given. This is especially important for those that may live further away and are unable to regularly visit.

At our office, our team regularly keep touch with our clients and Care Professionals. This means that we are also able to ensure that all the support that each person needs is given. Where each client has a set Care Team, our Care Professionals really get to know their clients. For many, their Care Professionals become like friends or family. This means that where they may be a change in behaviour, mobility, or health our Care Professionals will pick up on this. This means that should a client’s needs change and the support they need changes, we will be aware of this and can work with our clients to adapt or change the support they receive.

At Home Instead Northampton we understand that taking the step towards Care Support can be daunting. For some the idea of needing to reach out for help is scary- for both those who need support and the family carers who are currently providing this care. One of the key things to remember is that you are not alone. There are so many across the UK who are in the same situation.

Once you have made the decision to look for support, it can also be a minefield where there are so many companies and various options to consider. All you want is someone who will look after your loved one the way that they deserve. You want them to be safe, happy, and healthy. You want them to be cared for the way that you would care for them. At Home Instead Northampton we help to engage in conversations about Care Support. We can do this through an in-person consultation, where a member of our Client Team will come and speak with you and explain the support that we provide and discuss how our Care Visits could help you and your family. This could be through providing medication support, supporting with personal care, meal preparation or simply a companionship visit.

The steps into Care Support can be as big or as small as you want and need. It could be a gradual process of a couple of Care Visits a week that grows to be more, or you may choose that you would like help seven days a week. At Home Instead Northampton, our Care Visits start at 8:15am and our last visit is at 8:15pm. Each of our Care Visits are a minimum of one hour long and will be the same time each day or week. This means that each client receives quality care, that is not pressured or rushed. It also means our Care Professionals get the time to build trusting and understanding relationships with their clients. All our team love what we do, we love to help, and we love to care. It is what helps to build the fantastic relationships we have with our clients. It is a passion that can be seen by the care and support our trained Care Professionals give to their clients. It is what allows us to work with our clients and their families to ensure all clients receive the care support they want and need.
