Staff at Home Instead North Herts have been volunteering at this social enterprise for the past several weeks, they are a social enterprise based in Letchworth Garden City. Green Care at Norton is a therapeutic gardening project based at an allotment site in Letchworth. It’s designed to help people improve their mental and physical health, while they learn new skills, enjoy being outside in nature, and socialise with others in a safe space.
Green Care at Norton has three allotment sites across Letchworth where volunteers can help with watering plants, potting seedlings, making hanging baskets, cutting grass, weeding, etc. Tea and biscuits are free. Contact them directly for volunteer opportunities.

Standalone Farm in Letchworth Garden City

This is an authentic working farm located along Wilbury Road in Letchworth with animals and lots of open space for walks or sitting to enjoy the Hertfordshire countryside. There are many activities taking place during summer like the Herts Steam and County Show, the immersive space dome, get up close with creepy critters and many more. Letchworth heated outdoor pool nestled in the natural environment of Norton Common is a 50-metre pool which has recently been refurbished and voted one of the best in Hertfordshire. You can swim for relaxation or challenge yourself to increase your speed, it is a great way to spend an hour in Letchworth. They are open from 7am, but times may vary depending on time of year so check the website before visiting.

Letchworth also has an indoor pool which is accessible throughout the year, it is great for low impact exercise, rehabilitation, or full body workout. Walk Cycle or Run the Letchworth Greenway

The Letchworth Greenway is well known for fitness with all age groups, and it is safe and free from motor traffic. There’s lots to see along the way and benches are dispersed along the paths to enjoy a sit down.
The Greenway runs through Hitchin Lavender which is an absolute must for the café or seeing the lavender plants in summer and sunflowers in late summer. The view of the evening sky is absolutely stunning from the benches along the greenway just off Hitchin Lavender.
