Shire Hall Training in Object Reminiscence

The 29th of February saw Nicola Masters Community Engagement Officer for Home Instead Gwent and Monmouthshire embark on her first training session to deliver object reminiscence training for older adults and people living with dementia.

‘The Remember Me’ training course provides a wealth of practical advice to help plan and run a reminiscence session, ask effective questions to promote the sharing of memories and experiences, source and care for reminiscence resources, use museums as an effective tool for reminiscence and to use reminiscence as a tool for follow up activities.

The course which is delivered by Karin Molson – Learning and Development Manager of Monlife and based in Shire Hall provided all that attended the first session with a thorough and fun introduction to reminiscence which got everyone talking and sharing their own personal experiences; it also gave group members an opportunity to network and talk about opportunities for collaboration.

Home Instead as a dementia friendly organisation are committed to providing meaningful activities that help individuals and their families living with dementia to live better.

On Thursday the 7th of March we will be supporting a session with the Social Circle at the Bridges Centre in Monmouth and we look forward to running sessions independently across Gwent and Monmouthshire.
