On the 15th of March 2024 we will be running our next Memory Cafe in Stow Park Community Centre from 1:00pm – 3:00pm where we will be offering the opportunity for individuals and family members to create their own Playlist for Life. This is part of our reminiscence series of workshops that help individuals and their families living with dementia to unharness the powerful effects of personal music. Music is transformational and a personal playlist more because we all have music that has played an important role in our lives at school, with our family, at birthdays, weddings and more. Music can transport you through time and places so with our support you and your loved one can recreate your life in music.
‘Have you ever heard a piece of music and been taken back to a particular moment in your life? Or listened to the radio and heard a song that reminds you of a special person?’
This is what music can achieve and for those living with dementia music can be very powerful to help stimulate the mind and can help relieve stress and anxiety.
We will also be running a series of Memory Cafes which explore object and reminiscence and it would be lovely to see our existing members at these session and encourage new members and their families to come along.
