No Smoking Day 2024

Today is a day to raise awareness of the benefits of quitting smoking, and we wanted to share with you some information on this.

No Smoking Day 2024

Wednesday 13th March is ‘No Smoking Day’, a day where we come together to raise awareness of the benefits of quitting smoking.

Did you know that smoking indoors can leave behind harmful residues, affecting your home’s air quality and also posing a fire risk?

Every puff of smoke is a step away from a healthier future. We know that quitting smoking isn’t just about breaking a habit; its about reclaiming control over your health and wellbeing. From reducing the risk of cancer to improving cardiovascular health, the benefits of quitting are endless. Its never too late to stop smoking.

  • 20 minutes after your last cigarette, your pulse should already be returning to normal
  • after 8 hours your oxygen levels are recovering, and the amount of carbon monoxide in your blood has already halved
  • after 48 hours, your body has flushed out all carbon monoxide and your lungs are clearing out any nasty mucus. You can also now smell and taste better
  • after 72 hours breathing feels easier, and your feeling more energetic
  • after 2-12 weeks your blood is pumping to your heart and muscles better thanks to improved circulation
  • after 3-9 months your lungs are working 10% better, so less coughing and wheezing
  • after 1 year your risk of a heart attack has halved! And research suggests those who have quit smoking for a year are happier than those who have smoked.
  • after 10 years, your risk of death from lung cancer has also halved
  • after 15 years, your risk of heart attack is now the same as someone who has never smoked!
