At Home Instead Newcastle-Under-Lyme, we believe that the most powerful care starts with empathy – and empathy begins with understanding.

That’s why we’re inviting you to take part in something truly unique, moving and thought-provoking: the Virtual Dementia Tour Bus Experience. 

This free, interactive event is open to the public – no booking required – and offers a rare opportunity to gain insight into what it’s like to live with dementia.

What is the Dementia Bus?

Delivered by Training2 Care UK Ltd the Virtual Dementia Tour is a specially designed, hands on simulation that lets you experience the world through the eyes of someone living with dementia.

Inside the bus, you’ll be guided through an immersive environment where your senses – sight, sound, touch, and even movement are altered, it’s a deeply powerful and educational experience that helps participants understand the challenges people with dementia face every single day.

This award winning training is used globally by hospitals, care homes, and health professionals to transform understanding, challenge assumptions, and inspire more compassionate care.

Supporting individuals with dementia is at the heart of everything we do at Home Instead Newcastle-under-Lyme. From our team of specially trained Care Professionals to our local dementia-friendly initiatives, we are passionate about helping people live well at home for as long as possible.

But good care doesn’t happen in isolation – it involves families, friends, neighbours, businesses and the wider community. That’s why we’re hosting this event: to share knowledge, spark important conversations, and help build a more dementia-friendly Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Special Guests: Expert Support on the Day

To make the day even more valuable, we’re delighted to welcome:

• An Admiral Nurse from Dementia UK  – a dementia specialist nurse who can offer expert advice, practical tips, and emotional support for everyone affected by dementia.
• Dementia Advisors from the Alzheimer’s Society – available to provide guidance, answer questions, and connect you to local resources and support services.

Time: Drop in anytime between 10am – 4pm

Completely free and open to everyone.

The experience itself only takes a short time, but the impact lasts far longer. Many who step off the bus come away with a deeper understanding and a renewed sense of compassion.

Our friendly team will be there throughout the day to chat, answer questions, and offer information about dementia care and local support services, including how Home Instead and our partners can help.
