Memory Cafe Monmouth and Usk

Here at Home Instead Monmouth, Pontypool & Abergavenny we wanted to give back to our local community, so we have decided to run two monthly memory Cafes! One is based in Usk, and the other is based in Monmouth.

The memory café is a safe and supportive place for you to chat with people in similar situations to you, whether that is someone else with a dementia diagnosis or if you are the carer for a loved one with dementia, it’s nice to know you’re not alone.

We cater to all memory issues, we know that Parkinson’s can contribute to cognitive ability, and we will base the sessions around the ability of the attendees, ensuring all participants are safe.

RISE

We have teamed up with a local company called RISE, they specialise in fun, engaging activities that encourage teamwork and moderate movements (based on ability). Rise understand the benefits of keeping physically, mentally, and socially active, and they’re particularly passionate about addressing social isolation.

Seated sports are adapted versions of the games we all know and love! They include football, hockey and rugby these Rise sessions have proved very popular with attendees, who have great fun and always make the effort to come back!
