Reminiscence Resources

On the Road

Home Instead are like no other domiciliary care organisation where our community work is as important as our service provisions as we endeavour to reach out to find new ways and resources to use in our mission to create more dementia friendly communities.  Today we came to explore the amazing ‘MonLife Heritage Learning Reminiscence Resources’.

‘MonLife Learning offers a wonderful range of Reminiscence resources for older adults and people living with Dementia.

Our Memory Boxes offer opportunities for both one-to-one and group work or you can choose to have an on-site Reminiscence Session led by one of our trained facilitators.

Our Memory Boxes contain a wealth of carefully selected objects, object information and suggested questions, enabling you to explore a wide range of topics with participants.’

Nicola Masters Community Engagement Officer for Home Instead advised “It is important when running our dementia friendly activities to look at new ways to keep our sessions engaging; in Wales we have access to some fantastic resources such as the archive in Monmouthshire Museum which can help individuals with memory challenges.  I visited the collection today and I was like a kid in a sweet shop as I have an interest in antiques and our British heritage.  I believe these items can really help people to remember past experiences.  I am looking forward to using the collection in our Memory Café’s and our projects within schools and colleges and local groups’.
