5-Star Employee Satisfaction at Home Instead

We’re incredibly pleased to share some wonderful news: Home Instead Mid Cornwall has achieved a 5-star employee satisfaction rating.

This recognition means a great deal to us, not because of the score itself, but because every single caregiver took the time to respond. The feedback was honest, thoughtful and constructive — and we want to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you. Your voices matter, and you’ve shown us that we are moving in the right direction.

A vision set three years ago — driven by the need to change

Three years ago, we refreshed our vision with a clear and ambitious goal:

To improve and professionalise the experience of working in care in Cornwall.

We didn’t arrive at this vision by accident. We had to change.

Like much of the care sector, we were facing high staff turnover, and despite best efforts, we simply couldn’t recruit the number of care professionals needed to grow our team. There is a lot of hand-wringing across care about recruitment challenges and retention, but we knew that talking about the problem wasn’t enough.

We wanted to put in place real, practical changes that genuinely made a positive difference to the Care Professional role here in Mid Cornwall.

Turning intention into action

Care is skilled, meaningful work, and we believe the people who do it deserve security, respect, development and strong support. While we’re not perfect — and we know there is still much to do — this 5-star result shows that we are getting there.

The feedback highlights some of the tangible steps we’ve taken:

  • Guaranteed hours contracts for almost all of our Care Professionals, offering stability and peace of mind

  • Paid travel time and waiting time between visits, recognising that your time matters

  • Improved line management, built on honest, open communication and listening

  • Stronger training programmes to build confidence, skills and professionalism

  • A real focus on personal development, helping individuals grow, not just fill shifts

  • Rewards and recognition with the Star Award Scheme

These aren’t small adjustments — they represent a fundamental shift in how care work is valued and supported.

Better support for caregivers means better care for clients

The impact of these changes goes far beyond our team. A confident, well-trained, supported workforce delivers better, more consistent and more compassionate care.

Because of our amazing Care Professionals:

  • Clients benefit from experienced, familiar faces

  • Care is safer, more personalised and more reliable

  • Relationships have time to grow — and that’s where great care truly happens

This approach is also reflected in our growth. Over the past year, the hours of care we deliver have increased by 20%, enabling more people across Mid Cornwall to remain independent and well at home.

Thank you — and onwards

To our Care Professionals: thank you. Thank you for your honesty, your dedication, and the care you provide every day. This achievement belongs to you.

We’ll keep listening, keep improving and keep investing in our people — because when care professionals thrive, everyone benefits.

If you’re interested in joining a care team that puts people first — both clients and caregivers — we’d love to hear from you.
