Coffee shops in Ivybridge for the perfect cup

Looking for a great cup of coffee in Ivybridge? Check out our list of cafes that are perfect for a quick break whilst shopping or meeting up with friends

Why socialising at coffee shops is important for our wellbeing.

Socialising is so important for mental health as it can help to reduce stress and anxiety, and it can also help to boost your mood. Coffee shops are a great place to socialise because they provide a relaxed and informal setting to chat with friends, old and new. Going to a coffee shop has the added advantage that you don’t have to worry about cleaning your home or making sure it’s tidy either!

If you’re feeling lonely or isolated, coffee shops can be a place to meet new people and make new friends. The next time you’re feeling down, why not head to your local coffee shop, and strike up a conversation with someone new? You never know, you might make a new friend for life.

So if you’re looking for a great cup of coffee and a place to relax and socialise in Ivybridge, be sure to check out the cafes listed below.

Rochelle’s River Café

Top of our list has to be Rochelle’s Café in Glanville Mills as its right next door to Home Instead Ivybridge’s office and we are always popping in for a quick latte or cappuccino (and maybe a slice or two of coffee and walnut cake!). The riverside setting is beautiful and the café offers both indoor and outdoor seating – the outside seating at the front of the café has plenty of space to park a wheelchair or mobility scooter and as its undercover there is no danger of getting wet! As well as coffee, tea and cake, the café serves breakfasts and lunches but most importantly, the service is excellent with lovely, friendly staff who are always prepared to go the extra mile for their customers. As well as being wheelchair friendly, dogs are welcome in outside areas too.

Hettie’s

Hettie’s describes itself as ‘an independent rustic coffee shop’ and is known in Ivybridge for its great coffee but they also serve a great range of delicious smoothies. The cafe has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff will always help you find the perfect cup of coffee for your taste. Hettie’s also has a wide selection of cakes and pastries, so you’re sure to find something to suit your sweet tooth, including cakes from the famous ‘Exploding Bakery’!

The country cottage décor brings a certain charm to the place that makes it welcoming and inviting! As well as being wheelchair accessible, they can do takeouts so you can take that extra slice of cake home later!

Warrens Bakery

Warrens Bakery is very popular in Ivybridge with locals popping in for a small bite to eat, either sitting inside the cafe or on tables outside, or carrying their snacks a few yards away to sit on benches overlooking the river. It is part of a West Country chain claiming to be ‘Cornwall’s oldest bakery’ and is famous for its delicious pasties. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. As well as savoury snacks you’ll find a good selection of cakes and pastries with the doughnuts with various fillings a particular favourite with some of our clients!

If you are ever in Ivybridge and looking for a quick bite, Warrens Bakery is worth a visit !

Endsleigh Garden Centre

Just outside of the town is Endsleigh Garden Centre with a lovely coffee shop open 7 days a week and serving homemade cakes, tray bakes, light bites and, of course, cream teas. With a fully equipped indoor play area, it’s a great choice for those with visiting grandchildren. For a special treat why not try a full afternoon tea and follow with a trip around the garden centre? Endsleigh is very popular with our clients and Care Professionals – as well as the tea and coffee, there is plenty of undercover shopping including a range of gardening goods, plants and clothing.

The Watermark Coffee Shop

You’ll find The Watermark Coffee Shop linked to the library and entertainment complex. It is a very popular spot in town as the tea is tasty and the coffee is made with fresh, locally-sourced beans. The baristas are knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. They also offer a breakfast menu and have a range of gluten-free cakes and light lunches including lasagne and jacket potatoes. It is wheelchair accessible and a great spot if you are popping into the library; the Watermark often has the work of local artists lining the corridors upstairs so it’s worth taking the lift and having a look after you finish your coffee.

The most important thing about a coffee shop

The most important thing about a coffee shop is that it is a place where people can relax and take a break from their busy lives – as well as socialising, it can also be a good place to read a book, catch up on news on the laptop or just sit and watch the world go by. A good coffee shop will have a comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, and a wide selection of food and drink options. They won’t make you feel rushed or in the way, even after you’ve finished your drink and you’ll leave planning to pop back in again soon.

There are so many coffee shops in Ivybridge we are spoilt for choice! If you try any of the coffee shops above or if you find another gem tucked away in our town that you think deserves a mention, we’d love to hear from you!
