Our Amazing CAREGivers

Our amazing CAREGivers are right at the heart of our service. They are incredibly compassionate and dependable individuals, who come from all walks of life and are driven to provide the highest quality of care for their elderly clients.

We are thrilled that many of our CAREGivers have moved on to join our office support team, as you will read below.

Chris Lye

Franchise Owner - Chris Lye

Chris founded the Ipswich office of Home Instead with his wife Susanna, and is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the company. He is passionate about empowering people to fulfil their potential and committed to changing the face of aging, through the delivery of high quality care and support in your own home.

Chris has many years management experience in senior roles working for a large multinational company and holds a BSc (Hons) Degree and a Masters in Business Administration. He also works as a mentor across the Home Instead network and to small enterprises in the local area.

He is a keen sportsman and a devoted husband and father to two daughters.

Joanna McCall

General Manager - Joanna McCall

Joanna joined Home Instead Senior Care in November 2012. She is responsible for the overall management of our growing company, ensuring compliance with the Care Quality Commission's (CQC) regulations and Home Instead’s standards in all aspects of care. Joanna holds the CQC title of Registered Manager for our service.

Following an earlier career in the city, for the three years prior to joining Home Instead Joanna was the administration manager at large Nursing Home in the Kesgrave area. She holds a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, and is currently studying for an MBA at Suffolk University Business School.

Joanna lives with her husband and 3 children, and greatly enjoys singing, sewing, reading, walking and spending time with her family. Joanna is also a committee member of L’Arche Ipswich, a local charity that supports individuals with learning disabilities to live in a community together and is a Governor at St Albans Catholic High School in Ipswich.

Claire Martin

PA to Chris Lye - Claire Martin

Claire rejoined the Home Instead team in 2016, having worked with us prior in 2011 as a Care Coordinator. Claire is responsible for providing support to Chris Lye.

Prior to starting her family, Claire worked within the care sector at a young age, and then went on to administration and secretarial roles and worked as a Clinic Manager for a well known laser eye company. Claire holds her NVQ Level 2 and 3 in Business Administration. 

Claire lives in Ipswich with her husband and 2 young daughters. Claire enjoys family life, good food and spending time socialising with friends. Claire is a voluntary committee member of her daughters Preschool, where she holds the position of Chairperson.

Anne Belton

Care Manager (Ipswich) - Anne Belton

Anne joined us as a CAREGiver in 2015 and was awarded CAREGiver of the Year 2016. In 2017 Anne progressed to the office team, where she now holds the position of Care Manager for the Ipswich area.

As Care Manager, she oversees all aspects of our service in that area, ensuring our clients and their families receive the highest quality of service.

Anne when not working, enjoys driving, reading and visiting different places.

Wendy Chard

Care Manager (Coastal) - Wendy Chard

Wendy joined the team in 2013 and holds the position of Care Manager, for Woodbridge and Felixstowe. As well as overseeing all aspects of our service in that area, Wendy conducts care consultations with prospective clients, quality assurance visits, and liaises with our clients and their families to ensure they receive the highest quality of service.

Wendy is well known across health and social care organisations locally, coming to Home Instead from the Alzheimer's Society, where she was both a Dementia Support Worker and Group Facilitator. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, and is very resourceful to find solutions to setting up care in one's own home.

Wendy greatly enjoys walking, dancing and watching movies. She is also a great lover of animals, having kept ducks, cats, dogs and horses in the past. Wendy has a telescope and enjoys watching the stars on a clear night, to relax after a busy day.

Mukti Patel

Head of People - Mukti Patel

Mukti was appointed the role of HR Officer in September 2016, and was further promoted to 'Head of People' in July 2018. Mukti is responsible for recruiting outstanding individuals to join our growing team of CAREGivers, as well as providing general HR support and advice to the entire business, along with proactively enhancing our CAREGiver experience.

Mukti has several years’ experience working at a managerial level within the retail sector. Deciding on a change of career, Mukti joined Home Instead Senior Care initially as a CAREGiver in early 2016, before being appointed the position of HR Officer. Mukti is keen to utilise her previous managerial experience, along with her passion of care for the elderly in her new role.

Mukti relocated from London to Felixstowe in 2012. Mukti enjoys travelling, socialising and learning about different cultures.

Sue Merton

Client Services Manager (Ipswich) - Sue Merton

Sue joined Home Instead in 2015 and holds the position of Client Services Manager, for Ipswich and the surrounding rural areas. Sue conducts care consultations with prospective clients, quality assurance visits, and liaises with our clients and their families to ensure they receive the highest quality of service.

Sue brings a wealth of care, dementia and counselling experience to Home Instead. Prior to joining us she was working for Sue Ryder as the facilitator for their specialised community cafes and coordinator for the Suffolk Dementia Helpline, as well as being a counsellor for Cruse Bereavement Care. Sue has also worked as a counsellor for the Alzheimer's Society and Age UK Suffolk.

As well as spending time with her family, Sue greatly enjoys skiing and other international travel, as well as having a keen eye for wildlife and photography.

 

Nicola Seston

Care Coordinator (Ipswich) - Nicola Seston

Nicola joined us as a CAREGiver in 2017 and subsequently progressed to the office team in 2018, where she holds the position of Care Coordinator. Nicola is responsible for the smooth running of our service across the town of Ipswich.

Nicola has over 10 years’ experience working within the care sector, having worked for adults with Learning Disabilities and vulnerable adults in sheltered accommodation.

Nicola has completed her NVQ Level 2 and her QCF level 3 Qualification, both in Health and Social Care.

In her spare time, Nicola enjoys supporting her local football team, watching films, playing bingo and spending time with her family.

Teri Sadler

Care Coordinator (Coastal) - Teri Sadler

Teri joined Home Instead when the Ipswich office first opened in 2009. She is responsible for the smooth running of the service across the town of Woodbridge, Felixstowe and surrounding villages.

Teri has a wide-range of experience in care, having worked for more than twenty years in the sector in Ipswich and Felixstowe. She started her career in care as a carer, rising to the position of Registered Manager. Teri has completed her Level 4 NVQ HSC and LEVEL 4 NVQ Registered Managers Award (Adults).

She has one son, and enjoys spending time with her family, travelling abroad and fine dining.

Julie Hoy

Training & Retention Leader (Ipswich) - Julie Hoy

Julie joined Home Instead in October 2009 as a CAREGiver, progressing to the role of Training & Retention Leader. She is responsible for the training, retention, supervision and management for our Ipswich-based caregiving team.

Julie has worked in care for more than 20 years and was one of the first CAREGivers to join the Ipswich team in 2009. When working as a CAREGiver, she was also our Weekend Service Supervisor, ensuring the service continued to run smoothly over the weekend.

Julie enjoys reading, music, gardening, crafts and jewellery-making in her spare time, and has been a volunteer Beaver Scout Leader for more than 15 years.

Sarah Chamberlain

Training & Retention Leader (Coastal) - Sarah Chamberlain

Sarah joined Home Instead as a CAREGiver in 2015 and subsequently progressed to the office team. She is the Training & Retention Leader for the Coastal area, responsible for the training, retention, supervision and management of our caregiving teams in Woodbridge and Felixstowe.

Sarah is a qualified teacher with 25 years’ experience working as a teacher in various primary schools within the local area.

Sarah enjoys reading crime and mystery novels, motorsports, music, cross stitch and painting.

Joanne Coleman

Quality Coordinator (Ipswich) - Joanne Coleman

Jo joined us in 2013 and holds the position of Quality Coordinator, for Ipswich and the surrounding rural areas. Jo is also directly responsible for a variety of quality-led activities, focussed on providing our clients and CAREGivers with the highest quality of service.

She worked as a Care Coordinator and Trainer for a large, local residential home prior to working at Home Instead, bringing a great deal of care knowledge and strong organisational skills to our company.

Joanne loves to spend her time outside work with her young daughter. She also enjoys socialising with friends and cooking, when she gets the chance.

Gill Bishop

Community Engagement Officer – Gill Bishop

Gill joined Home Instead Senior Care in February 2011 and is responsible for creating awareness of the full range of services available from Home Instead in the local area.

Gill has more than 20 years' experience in management and sales and is passionate to utilise these skills in a role that relates to the care and support of the elderly. Gill has a keen interest in Homeshield Plus, an initiative run by Suffolk County Council to protect vulnerable residents in their homes.

She has one daughter and one grand-daughter, enjoys cooking and loves walking her dog along the beach front in Felixstowe.

Rose Kelland

HR Administrator - Rose Kelland

Rose joined as a CAREGiver in 2015 and subsequently progressed to the office team in 2017, responsible for supporting the team with HR and financial administration.

As well as working in homecare prior to joining Home Instead, Rose was a volunteer for Home Start, which supports struggling families through regular counselling and home visits. She has also held a variety of administrative roles for a number of organisations.

In her spare time, Rose enjoys various crafts and researching her family tree.

Lynda Oates

Alzheimer's CARE Program Trainer - Lynda Oates

Lynda joined the team as a CAREGiver in 2010 and leads Home Instead's Alzheimer's CARE Program, a City & Guilds certificated training course undertaken by our team.

Lynda's experience was built from caring for elderly relatives and also her son. Soon after joining Home Instead as a CAREGiver, she won the prestigious Dementia Carer award for the East of England, as part of the Great British Care Awards. Lynda is passionate about educating people with the skills to support those living with memory loss.

Lynda enjoys shopping, gardening, eating, swimming and travel, and more recently the adrenalin rush of sky-diving and flying lessons.
