Ipswich based ‘at-home care’ provider, Home Instead Senior Care is delighted to announce the appointment of Gill Bishop to the key role of Service Information Specialist. Gill’s task will be to get out and about in the local community promoting Home Instead’s services and liaising with other local organisations to help to provide maximum support for older people in the area.
Having previously worked in sales and management roles in the communications industry for companies such as BT, Gill decided to look for a new career in the care sector after realising how rewarding and important the work is whilst looking after an elderly relative.
Gill explains: “I love being with older people, enjoying sharing their memories and I have a great respect for their wisdom. I really believe in the importance of helping the elderly and now I have a role in which I can really make a difference to the lives of others. I think this job is good for me and I hope that I will be good for the job.”
Gill lives with her family in Trimley St, Martin, and is close to her elderly mother, Joyce Watson who lives in Felixstowe and is an inspiration to her. Gill comments: “Mum is 83 but shows no signs of slowing down. She has a great social life and is very involved in the local community. Through my work at Home Instead I intend to help other elderly people to maintain their interests and hobbies too, it is such a vital part of maintaining a good quality of life.”
Gill has undergone a full training programme with Home instead and is impressed by the company’s ethos of providing high quality care and, in particular that they allow enough time on visits to build good relationships with clients. Gill continues: “I can understand that caring for the elderly is often a daunting prospect for families but there is good quality care available to help. Our team is highly motivated, they are all very special individuals dedicated to making a difference to the lives of others.”
In addition to her career Gill enjoys cooking and spends time training her border collie.
